FINALLY! She officially gets a name! ✧*。٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و✧*。

I can’t even tell you the amount of times I almost called her by name in the year since she came into the comic! Ah! Remembering to call her “unnamed girl” when of course I knew what her name was, was so challenging! I made it though!

The ‘Characters’ page has been updated with her name. (ノ・o・)ノ Yay!

Chapter Five, Page One – Process

Chapter Five, Page One – Process published on 1 Comment on Chapter Five, Page One – Process

Hello! I wanted to show an example of a page that went through about a hundred rounds of edits until I let it be. ( >_< ;;) My tolerance for badly done/ineffective page layouts seems to have disappeared between chapter four and five, so I went over and over the first few pages of chapter five.

The ideal process for a page is: Script >Thumbnail Draft> Final Thumbnail> Pencil Page>Photoshop Editing>Final Edits and Text.

For this page that didn’t happen at all. ( ´༎ຶㅂ༎ຶ`) Haha. Shown above is the original pencil page that I drew from a smaller thumbnail. Although it looked alright as a smaller thumbnail, the page seemed too empty when everything was drawn at full size. I went ahead and did a full edit on it to see what it looked like, but I still really disliked it.

So I re-arranged the panels about three times, got it to a point where I thought it was alright, so I started on the next page. After the second page was nearly finished, I decided the transition from the first to second page wasn’t clear at all and I then decided to draw a whole new panel and add more detail to the first page!

So that is how the first page of chapter five went, hopefully I can avoid such chaotic processes in the future. I will be back with a full page process post, with pictures, very soon!

Victors priorities are a bit strange…..

LOOK EVERYONE! West Seven is now officially mixed media! This chapter has a lot of cloaks and I finally had to admit that pencil rendering smooth fabrics is a little too time consuming? Rendering excessive detail in pencil is so therapeutic for me though…(-◎v◎) so I might go back and forth but the painting was an interesting challenge and a new thing to improve upon.

The day has come however, I am going to be updating just once a week for a bit. ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚ As I already said, this chapter is a bit nuts and I am being a bit nuts, but hopefully in a few pages you will understand why things are moving so slowly ahah. I have a bit more work to do on the side as well.

So there will be a new page next Friday! In the meantime please vote for West Seven to see a larger image of todays page!

Victor did a not so nice thing…(꒪⌓꒪)

Yes, this guy was a totally useless guard, but I will defend him! In a world where there is basically zero dissidents a lot of the Sentry don’t have a lot of practice doing anything. So yes, the young ones are totally incompetent haha.

This is a GREAT page for looking at tiny details so be sure to vote below and look at the FULL SIZE IMAGE!

Who should they really be scared of? (╯•﹏•╰)

MAN this page was so boring to draw haha. Sentry are all supposed to look more or less the same but it made for tedious subject matter.

Anyhow,

I had a conversation with Jay in the comments last week about advertising. Right now running adds on Top Webcomics is my main way to promote the comic and reach an audience. Of course, as the author, promoting West Seven is something I want to do but Jay asked if there was a way to pay for add-space as a way to support the comic. I really hadn’t thought about accepting support from readers but of course that would be wonderful!

I looked into it and found Ko-Fi, basically an online tip jar to allow creators to get some monetary support from those who would like to offer. SO! I set that up and now you can donate to West Seven below. I will be using any and all support to buy add space and promote the comic further.

BIG thank you to Jay for offering and thus making me look into it!

HEY SO I forgot to share that I won the creativity prize in the Top Webcomics Halloween contest! Thank you to everyone that voted for my entry and I SO thrilled that the judges liked my piece and chose it as their pick! They announced the winners here.

My promotion prizes will be running from today until the 27th, so look for them when you vote below!

Hello everyone! Welcome to chapter five!

Last week I created a world map and updated the about page so please give that a look. After making the map I wanted to fix this page, not knowing that would make me want to fix and completely re-haul every page in chapter one! I really, really want to!! Ahhh! I barely stopped myself. (◎ω◎;;) I decided I would put off fixing up the first chapter until I print the first book. Onwards with chapter five!

I will definitely be moving to one page a week in a few weeks. As the world of the story gets broader and my knowledge and skills get broader the time it is taking from planning a page to full execution is increasing so so much. I am not keeping up, but life has been busy on top of the work of the comic too. ✧*。ヾ(。>﹏<。)ノ゙✧*。

In the previous chapters I focused on my strengths and saved time on backgrounds and establishing scenes so I could get pages up on time. Now I would like to take all the time it takes to make every page as good as it can possibly be!
